Far more detail than we need for a day trip but excellent if you want hikes. Nice photos too!

Very thorough and informative.

Lonely Planet has done a great job with this guide to Grand Canyon National Park. They've got some good information, mixed in with some common sense that every visitor to a National Park should be aware of.I liked that the guide wasn't too hefty and can easily be taken along on a hiking, camping or backpacking trip. It's not overly bulky. It doesn't, however, skimp on information - everything you need is there.I thought the "Need To Know" ( pages 18 and 19 ) were very helpful and even if you don' [...]

Informative

This book was bought in anticipation of a holiday in and around the Grand Canyon. It is useful, will give you accurate data about the places you visit, and I think it can be regarded as informative and useful should you visit the Grand Canyon. So why did I only give it 4 stars? Some readers might argue it's very narrowly cast. It will tell you about the Grand Canyon, but nothing else. As an example Monument Valley is near the Grand Canyon, and well worth a visit, but gets no mention in the book.

Excellent guide book. Well-arranged, easy to read.

Very helpful in deciding whee to stay and what things to do
