My nanny boy loves this book! And I have to say that it one of the least annoying ones for me to read over and over. My nanny boy also loves waving back at the "8 white bears waving goodbye" and it's super adorable!
This is a beautiful and fun book. However, it is insidiously racist in that while the white and gold bears are plenty in number, having fun, and waving goodbye, the black animals (the crows and bears) look "silly" (stupid/goofy/not serious) and also needy/greedy (short on, hungry for the last page-12 blueberries). In addition to being last up, the three black bears are not even counted! Eff that. I'm keeping it because it's a cute book, but SMH.
Alaska 123: Colors and Numbers by Shannon Cartwright is a great concept/board book. Cartwright uses animals native to Alaska to teach colors and numbers through rhyme. One of my son's favorites as a toddler!Themes: Alaska; Colors; Numbers; AnimalsWays to use this book with children:*Read it aloud over and over and over!
My favorite book to read to the kids. They loved it as infants, and now enjoy saying the words along with me. Numbers, animals, colors, pretty pictures, and rhyming what's not to love?
Wonderful counting/colors/animals book! I do have to wonder if "eight white bears, waving goodbye" was a reference to climate change, though. :-( Poor polar bears.
I love this book because my daughter loves this book!
I object to caribou being purple. Otherwise less insipid than many, and nice as a gift book for visitors to Alaska.
