Received this book as a Good Reads First Read book; received it this afternoon and my 3 year old granddaughter and I sat and read it as a bedtime story this evening. She so enjoyed listening to it as I read it out loud. She really enjoyed the colorful illustrations that go with the story as well. Very nicely done. Such a special 'tale' to tell. A little boy wanted to have an extraordinary day after feeling like his days are just ordinary. His Dad teaches him to skip rocks on the river. He feels [...]

I was fortunate enough to receive a copy of The Skipping Stone as a first reads winner.A lovely story about wanting/wishing for something special. Beautifully illustrated with pictures that look like watercolors.

Wonderful illustrations by Oona Risling Sholl.

Received this book as a Good Reads First Read book; 4 star

Although Nick thinks he has lost the stone forever, a few amazing events happen and Nick discover [...]

This book is very special to me. I made up the story when my son was four years old and told it to him over and over again at bedtime. He is now 25! To finally have this beloved story published with such vibrant, gorgeous illustrations is such an honor.
