4 - "It's okay. I've got you." Stars!Kerri Carpenter definitely hit the novella jackpot with Kissing Mr. Wrong. this story had everything in it that keeps me reading and happily so. ”Hi, beautiful.”Vanessa was strong, for the most part confident and easy to get along with. John, is in town for a night, they end up getting their wires crossed on a bridge, and the rest as they say is history. After one unforgettable night, we move on three months, our couple although they haven’t seen each ot [...]
Vanessa has a horrible day that ends on a spectacular note. She loses her job, goes to her local pub, meets super hot guy and then while hanging out at her local bridge, ruminating about life you do… almost falls. Hot guy saves her and well, hot sex soon follows. It’s just a one night stand. Until he comes back, and she finds out that he’s her BFF’s brother, John Campbell. It’s a bit awkward. But, romance still happens. The Good, The Bad and Everything In Between-The fantasy one night s [...]

Deciding she needs air rather than another wine, she heads to her favoured spot, the old stone bridge, and takes in its peace inducing quality.John Campbell is on a quick visit home on military leave, when he strolls into a bar and spots a breathtaking beauty experiencing sad times. See more of my reviews on my blog Thoughts At One In The Morning.Upon finishing, my initial reaction:So charming. <3My Thoughts (full review):This is my second Kerri Carpenter novel. The first one, Flirting With the Competition, was a super cute story, and another book in the Entangled Lovestruck imprint. I love that imprint, and with good reason, and Kissing Mr. Wrong was definitely worth the read. The story starts with the first encounter Vanessa and John have together, before they know who [...]

Slick's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book ReviewsI very much enjoyed this one night stand you can’t forget story by Kerri Carpenter. Two people meet in a bar and an incident has them in each other’s arms and wanting more even knowing it can only be for one night, but it’s a night neither one can forget even months later when fate brings them back together in a most unusual way. Kissing Mr. Wrong is a love story with a heart; it is passionate and sexy yet it has many tender moments as [...]
I really enjoy Ms. Carpenter writing style (also love her cute puppy pictures on facebook… but that’s totally unrelated). Her books are fast paced, the dialogue is funny and the chemistry between her characters is great.Kissing Mr. Wrong had all of this. John aka Jack, is Vanessa’s savior when he thinks she is about to jump off a bridge after having a lousy day. Vanessa was just going to sit on the bridge and enjoy the night air but who wouldn’t want to be saved by a hot, built, soldier [...]
Kerri Carpenter has the novella malarkey in the bag with Kissing Mr. Wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet, sexy short romantic jaunt."Hi, beautiful."It's nothing that hasn't been done before; girl and guy passing through town meet in a bar and embark on a one night-stand, but Vanessa and John were great realistic couple who were completely endearing and showed no regrets other than the fact that three months on, each is still very much thinking of that night. And when John returns they discove [...]
A great short read that begins with a one night stand and ends with an HEA.The characters are endearing, with a simmering heat level that is sure to attract a variety of readers.Vanessa meets John when her life takes a nose dive. The attraction is intense and a honest one night stand takes place. 3 months later John reappears and she learns he's her best friends brother. The problem is neither one can resist each other and the friend card comes into play.Very well told with a loveable characters [...]
A fun read well-written with great humour loved the character's of vanessa Hewitt graphic designer who had a one night stand with the sexy Afghanistan solider John Campbell who has returned home to see his sister , Great chemistry between these character's and who doesn't love a solider love story!!
Thoroughly enjoyed it. Best meet cute scene - he thinks he's saving her from jumping off the bridge, but actually saves her from accidentally falling from the bridge. Kerri is a new author to me and I'm looking forward to reading more of her books.
3.5 starsKissing Mr. Wrong was a sweet and romantic read. The storyline was fun and enjoyable and the characters were well developed. Highly recommend this novella by Kerri Carpenter.Thank you Entangled Lovestruck via Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts.
Jack I loved him and I loved Vanessa, "why would you tell my sister about my penis? Wait, what did you tell her exactly?" I enjoyed this book I didn't take many notes or highlights as it was a quick read, and I enjoyed it.
what A CUTE book, definitely enjoyed.
This book had too little of everything. Too little character development, too little story building, too little plot, and too little respect for readers. The writing was decent, but there needed to be more. It felt rushed and, at just barely over 100 pages, there really isn't any excuse for not making more of an effort. Add another 100+ pages, more back story to the main characters, and maybe I would care more about what is happening, or has happened, in everyone's lives. As it stands, the sexua [...]
First reviewed at Keeper BookshelfVanessa has just had a day from hell. She’d been laid off from her graphic artist job, and in this small town of Crescent Falls there weren’t more jobs like that one to be found. Sipping a glass of wine in the bar downstairs from her apartment, Vanessa felt the eyes of a stranger at the bar on her, almost senses his overhearing her conversation with Mike but didn’t pay a lot of attention to him other than to realize the guy was definitely handsome. Mike ha [...]
Actual rating 3.5 out of 5 Stars!Originally posted on my blog: Tangled Up In BooksI received a copy of this book, from the publisher, in exchange for an honest review. In no way did this sway either my review or my rating!I didn't realize how very short this book was before I started it. Like 120 pages short to be exact. So even though it was very sweet and very swoon worthy, it was also very rushed. I did enjoy it but I do also wish that it had been longer and not so much in the insta-love cate [...]
Check out my full review on Bookaholics Not-So-Anonymous.Note: This ARC was provided by Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest review.Kissing Mr. Wrong is a contemporary romance by Kerri Carpenter and is, I'm assuming, the first in a series called Wrong Man. Vanessa and John meet and end up spending a night to remember together. John makes it clear that he isn't staying in town and that he has to leave come morning, circumstances that Vanessa accepts. They were probably not expecting to [...]
Well, now wasn't that was a perfect little interlude in my otherwise boring day! Kissing Mr Wrong is a quick read but just what I needed to bring me out of the workday doldrums. I just loved the characters, the banter they had between them, the situations they found themselves in and the way their story unfolded. This small town love story just hit the spot with me. So much was packed in to this short novel, so much emotion, a connection to the characters that you could feel, humor that was righ [...]
Kissing Mr. Wrong, by Kerri Carpenter, was such a fun reading escape! I won't lie to you, I one-click every single day! *Ahem* I know It's bad!!! When I saw the book cover and the blurb, I immediately one-clicked! Kerri Carpenter is a new author to me and since this was a novella it was the perfect book to start discovering this awesome author. I really loved her writing style and her characters were funny and lovable. Victoria Hewitt is having a horrible day. She just got laid off of work. It' [...]
After having been laid off from her job, Vanessa Hewitt is drowning her sorrows in a bar. John Campbell is passing through the town and spots the beautiful Vanessa. However he notices she is down and clearly drowning her sorrows. When Vanessa leaves the bar, John follows to make sure she is ok and is immediately alarmed when he spots her climbing on the old stone bridge.John intervenes and what becomes clear was a wrong assumption, leads to them talking, then sparks of instant attraction start t [...]
Heather's review from Smut MattersThree months after a hot one-night stand with a ridiculously hot guy she met after nearly accidentally falling from a bridge, Vanessa Hewitt still hasn't forgotten about him. He was in town for one night only so she's shocked when he returns. Haunted by his time in Afghanistan, soldier John Campbell returns to his hometown just long enough to help plan an engagement party for his sister. When he realizes her best friend is the sweet one-night stand he's been fan [...]
Dear Jess, I know Vanessa is your best friend and John is your brother, but Breaking News: it’s not about you!Every time I read a brother/sister’s best friend romance, I always feel like poking the angry sibling in the arm and reminding them that this thing is between two consenting adults, of which they aren’t one, so butt out and get over themselves! I definitely felt like doing that to Jess here, although there are other things at work that explain some of her reaction. However, since t [...]
Family is the most important thing and they will always be there for you no matter what.Vanessa Hewitt is a wonderful woman and an artist. She lost her job and was feeling kind of down but never would she have thought of killing herself. Only that Jack aka John Campbell didn’t know that all he knew was what he over heard and now she was climbing over the railing and down below as a creek. The moment that he has her in his arms they have this instant chemistry and before you know it they are he [...]
Thanks to Entangled and Netgalley for the book in exchange for a honest review. After a bad day Vanessa went to the bar that is below her apartment to drown her sorrows in some drinks. While she was there she noticed a nice looking guy sitting at the end of the bar but with all she was going through just ignored it. After talking to the bartender/owner of the bar about working there she leaves. Good looking guy finds her and after a little bit of time they end up back at her apartment. They agree [...]
* ARC provided by Publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review *A great, well-written read. Fast-paced, sexy, and fun, with a hero and heroine who draw readers in right away.Vanessa Hewitt could be a woman readers know. An acquaintance. A close friend. A family member. Someone to care about and root for. And John Campbell is every bit the hot military man a lot of women fantasize about meeting one day. The kind of man a woman sees across a crowded room and, no matter how crazy it sounds al [...]
***A gifted copy was provided by the publisher for my honest review****This is a story, that , in my mind, could have turned out differently but ended up with just a almost 4 star rating. I wanted to love the story because it had a one night stand that turned into a forever but there was a strained quality to the story, almost like a forced quality. I think there was so more promise and part of me loved the promise of the story but just didn’t like how the story got to going and the forced fee [...]
Who doesn’t love a tortured hero? This girl absolutely does, and when that hero is a soldier, the stakes are higher and I’m instantly intrigued. I loved John! His hero instincts kick right in when he sees Vanessa in distress the night they meet and saves her from what he thinks might be the ultimate in wrong decisions. In reality she just needs air and space, but it made for the most adorable meet-cute, with a little drama and tension thrown in for good measure. I swooned when he saved her f [...]
