TRUST WITH ALL YOUR HEARTJubilee Dupree was stalked, drugged, kidnapped, raped and forced to marry Colvin Stallings at the tender age of 16. What a nightmare of a marriage where he would drink, then beat and abuse her. Going off for long periods of time leaving her alone, but for her, that was the only time of peace. Nearly starving through the winter and then a stranger shows up to tell her he now owns the farm that had belonged to his late cousin and inform her Colvin was dead. What will Jubil [...]
This was a sweet inspirational historical western romance with strong characters. Jubilee was kidnapped and forced to marry Colvin at sixteen, a man who ended up being an abusive drunk. When his cousin, Rafe, buys the property shortly before her husband is shot outside a saloon he didn't realise Colvin had a wife. He ends up inheriting a widow and the two are at odds for a long time. They end up agreeing to a business arrangement wedding to save appearances. The author did a brilliant job showing [...]
Simply and beautifully written, "Year of Jubilee" is the story of a young woman, blemished and traumatized by a lonely and violent past; pressed into service as a teen orphan; kidnapped and abused by an ill-tempered husband. Upon Colvin Stalling's death, his property falls to a distant cousin, Rafe Tanner, who travels to claim his inheritance, only to discover that it is already occupied by Colvin's lovely, almost-starving, young widow, Jubilee. Deciding that a marriage of convenience and "busin [...]

Year of JubileeThis book caught my attention from the very first page. Jubilee was a orphan, then was kidnapped when she was 16 by a bad guy. Was forced to marry him and he was very mean to her. He would leave her alone for months at a time. One day Rafe shows up after buying the place but doesn't know anyone is living there. The bad guy she was married to was his cousin and Rafe got the place before her husband got killed. After Rafe finds her, he marries her since she had no place else to go. [...]
This is the best Christian Historical Romance I've read this year! I simply loved this story, and the endearing characters of Jubilee and Rafe. Their romance is not without its complications, and my heart goes out to Jubilee as her troubled past and ongoing battles become apparent. Although set in the 19th century, the issues Rafe and Jubilee face transcend time and are so relevant for many today. The Christian message is interwoven well, and not at all preachy or overpowering. If I could 6 star [...]
I mostly liked this book. It was a little different slant on the "mail order bride" theme, and like most books with this basic premise, I get a little frustrated with the two main characters. It seems they always each fall in love, but they think the other person isn't really interested in making theirs a "real" marriage. This one seemed to go on and on with both parties frustrated. This was my first read by Peggy Trotter and I would read another by her.
What a wonderful debut! This is a heartwarming Christian romance that I read in one setting because I couldn't put it down. This is a wonderful combination of historical fiction, romance and faith that makes for a very enjoyable read. It is a beautiful story showing that with God's love there is second chances for hurting people. I very much recommend this book to anyone who enjoys good Christian historical fiction and romance. I definitely look forward to reading more from this author.
I couldn't put this book down! I have a newborn and should have been sleeping while he slept, but I just couldn't put this book down. From the beginning to the very end, it was a page turner. A great story of learning to trust and new beginnings. I can't wait to read more works by Peggy Trotter. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the Publisher in exchange for my honest review.
This sweet Christian debut romance by Peggy Trotter during the 1850's is one of those you can't put down. The plot of abuse and mistrust portrays God's love and the beauty He can bring out of ashes. I recommend this book. I can't wait to see what other writings this author does. I was given this book for an honest review.
If there's one lesson this novel reinforces, it's that healing takes time. An abused woman like Jubilee meets every stressor with the same fear and distrust, despite the love of her husband and friends. Only accepting God's love releases her from victimhood--and that breakthrough isn't simple, either. Peggy Trotter takes us into Jubilee's heart, and into the Almighty's, too.
What a neat book. A neat Christian story in 1850's An orphan, who was badly hurt, a neat gentlemanYou will thoroughly enjoy how God changes Jubilee's whole life.An absolutely, positively neat story God bless u
A very moving storyAm adding this to my favorites list! The main characters are very engaging, both having had heartbreaking events in their lives and circumstances throw them together. It's a worthwhile read to journey with them during THIS Jubilee Year of Mercy.
Year of Jubilee’s a story of two young people finding unexpected love amidst a hard life of necessity. It’s a tale of trust and hope in the unknown as well as the power of love and the joy it brings as it renews our heart and minds.I give it five stars.
What a wonderful debut! Beautifully written, Year of Jubilee is an emotion-filled story of tenderness, trust, forgiveness, and love. Captivating from the first page until the last, I loved this touching story and can’t wait to read more from Peggy Trotter!
Good, Clean ReadPeggy Trotter has become one of my new goto authors for a good, clean romance. Good writing, compelling characters, and inviting plotline. Ill be looking for more books by this author in the future.
So this book started out really strong for me. But then around 50% it got really slow There was all these misunderstandings and then. Lot of sub plots So the second half wasn't as good. Overall an ok read
