POS masquerading as H winds up bullying TSTL h (who has been in love with him for two years) into marrying him after he gets jilted by golddigger OW with whom he is seriously in lust with cause he needs a wife for important promotion in his daddy's company. Then OW returns on wedding eve wanting H back. POS promptly decides h needs to not show up to the wedding cause he doesn't have the cojones to call it off. (Forget the fact that her family has gone to a huge expense, and that his father wants [...]
Back cover: She wanted him -- on any terms! Maggie agreed to marry Blake Morden and accompany him to Hong Kong even though he couldn't say, "I love you." She'd share his life, if not his love. Then, on the eve of their wedding, Blake changed his plans -- he wanted out. And pride flew out the window when Maggie realized she couldn't survive without him. My Review: So she refused, and risked the worst thing possible -- his hate.Blake wanted to marry OW but she married OM. Maggie helps the drunk an [...]
I've been wanting to read this book since I heard about it on the amazon romance forums. (I'm a sucker for train wrecks)The hero was one mixed-up guy. He proposed a marriage of convenience to his assistant once his hopes were dashed of marrying Fiona, a gold digger of the first order. The heroine has been in love with him for years and agrees to marry him and go to Hong Kong for a big business deal. The problems start when Fiona's husband is killed and Blake wants to be set free by being jilted [...]
Someone needs to die, and it's our whiney, pathetic loser of a hero.Maggie has worked for and has loved the pathetic Blake for years. He is, of course, a trouser snake with no taste in women hence his obsession with Fiona who dumps him for an Italian racecar driver.Blake asks poor besotted Maggie to marry him. There are moments of lucidity when Maggie wonders about what an oblivious idiot he is, but those moments are not strong enough to stop her. Due to Blake's job for his Daddy's company, they [...]
More 2 1/2 stars for a great opening. But things fizzled -- the h/h are separated for most of the book for goodness sake. The Hong Kong/Singapore setting was wasted -- I bet it came out of a tourist guide because it didn't feel real.
Heroine actually admits she would have cheated on her husband if he hadn't caught her and OM red-handed. Not my idea of a romance.
Well that was fun! NOT! I really hated the hero for most of the book. He was vile, disgusting, evil and he should have been eaten alive by wild boars while the heroine watched in glee with the other guy Nick holding her hand But alas, he did almost make me like him at the end. I was glad to read that he did not sleep with the OW, at least after the wedding, when he went back home to her. I loved that he found her in bed with another man in his apartment in his bed. I gave it two fist pumps even. [...]
2.5 stars. It was everything the other reviews said, but the angst was solid.
Book was great, loved it a lot but the ending really sucked was too short and forceful, although you did receive your happy ending.
So much for making good use of the Hong Kong setting. That Blake is a flake, essentially.
Sometimes you just wanna look the author in the eye and sayWTF??!!??!!?!!?!?!
The story basically starts with a heroine in love with her boss. Her boss is infatuated with someone else. Due to several misunderstandings and rash decisions, the heroine marries the hero. The hero is pissed off at the heroine. The thing I like about this book is that the heroine clearly is hopelessly in love with the hero and is open about how this affects her judgment. She admits she marries the hero because she loves him and sees this as a chance for him to love her. She also is honest to her [...]
2.5 starsBit boring.Had potential.missed the mark (is extremely HP and I have taken that into account with my grading. I was in the mood for one and it was ok as one.)
Probably my favorite by this author so-far. Fun, angsty-fluff romance, in the old fashioned style.
lol am i the only one who likes itI mean as long as it's angst. my opinion tho
Beginning is well done but ending is little lame.
I don't know why this book got such low reviews. I liked it even though it is a much older book.
